General Questions
What is Apna Recipe?
A community-driven recipe platform where home cooks and chefs share, rate and preserve their favourite recipes — from quick weeknight dinners to festive family classics.
Is it free to use?
Yes — browsing recipes, saving favourites, writing reviews and submitting your own recipes are all free with an account. An optional membership adds premium recipes, the meal planner and an ad-free experience.
How do I get in touch with the team?
Use the contact form — we usually respond within 1–2 business days.
Recipes & Submissions
How do I submit my own recipe?
Create a free account and verify your email, then head to My Recipes → Submit a recipe. Add your ingredients, step-by-step instructions and a photo of the finished dish.
Why is my recipe still pending?
Every submission is reviewed by our editors before it goes live — usually within a couple of days. Editing a published recipe sends it back for a quick re-review, so the site always stays trustworthy.
How does the serving scaler work?
On any recipe page, use the + / − buttons beside Serves and every ingredient quantity rescales instantly — fractions included.
What is the shopping list?
Tap Add to Shopping List on a recipe and all its ingredients land on your personal list in one go. Check items off as you shop and add your own extras.
Membership & Billing
What do I get with a membership?
Premium member-only recipes, the weekly meal planner, and an ad-free experience across the whole site. Compare the tiers on the membership page.
How do payments work?
Paid plans are billed securely through Razorpay checkout. We never see or store your card details.
How do I cancel my membership?
From My Account → Membership → Cancel membership. You keep access until the end of your current billing period — no questions asked.
Account & Security
I forgot my password — what now?
Use the forgot password link on the sign-in page and we'll email you a secure reset link.
Why do I need to verify my email?
Verification keeps the community real. It unlocks reviews, favourites, recipe submissions and memberships — check your inbox after registering, or resend the link from your account page.
Can I sign out of other devices?
Yes — your account page shows recent login activity and a Sign out other devices button that ends every session except the one you're using.
Community
How do reviews and ratings work?
Signed-in members rate recipes from 1–5 stars with an optional comment. Reviews are moderated before they appear, and a recipe's average only counts approved reviews.
What are chef profiles?
Every author with published recipes gets a public profile showing their recipes, ratings and story — tap any author's name to visit theirs.
What does the newsletter include?
A weekly digest of the best new recipes. Subscribe from the footer of any page; every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
